Is anyone interested in the London Duathlon?
Public places are now sold out but we have a club code for any CATC members who want to enter. You still have to pay of course but an entry is available using this code.
There are multiple distances to take part in and also a relay. The event is at Richmond Park on 14th September 2014.
See here for details
http://londonduathlon.com/
If you want to enter click on the "club members" tab and enter the code CLUBCHO833 into the validation box.
Thanks
Ainsley

On Saturday 26th of July 2014 the small, but perfectly formed, village of Beetham saw Bill Beckett (28th V45 47.43) and Steve Baker (50th V50: 53.36) flying the flag for Chorley. After braving the frustrating queues of traffic on the grid-locked M6 ( with no air-con) in the Sahara-like weather conditions we finally made it to junction 35 and on to Beetham.
The intrepid duo attacked an interesting course of limestone, root-strewn paths and wooded trails with open sections of lush meadows and contrasting short sections of rhododendron and bramble tunnels. Not forgetting the plentiful supply of narrow stone stiles to bash your knees on for those too quick to care. Upon nearing the end an interesting, very narrow, semi-stepped crevasse / fissure was included, probably impassable for the more portly runner.
Then after the finish line, which could only be reached by crossing the in-use race track (lol), we grabbed our much deserved cup of water. Just as we thought it was safe to retire to our vehicles we were press ganged (politely asked actually) into the final 1600 metre race. Well, we didn't want to let the good folk of Beetham think that we, from Chorley, were only fit for one race; did we? :-)

Well done to Holly Brookes (u17), Caitlin McCarrick (u13) and Georgia Martin (u17) who competed at the Mid-Lancs track & field meeting at Preston yesterday. Some great performances and personal bests. Results to follow. Let's get more athletes at the meeting next weekend at Lancaster.

7 of our triathletes compete in the 10th Ironman UK event in Bolton this weekend with some very impressive results.
First home was Joe Duckworth in a time of 10:20:54 claiming 45th overall and 8th in the V40/45 category. This earned Joe a slot in the world Championships in Kona Hawaii, Joe was in a privileged position of turning the slot down as he has already qualified after the Ironman Wales result from September 2013.
Next home was Adam Critchley in an excellent time of 11:05:40 putting him 116th overall and 24th in the V40/45 category.
Ainsley Murphy had a great day out clocking 11:29:39 coming in 194th overall.
Julian Goudge proved once again he is more than simply a runner with a time of 12:15:11 earning him a position of 387th.
Jonathon Mann was the next Chorley athlete over the line in a time of 12:19:25 a great time in his Ironman debut earning him 412th.
Finishing 439th in a time of 12:26:22 was Rob Baldwin getting the result he deserved after months of hard work in training.
Just to prove it's not just the lads capable of competing and qualifying for the World Champs Nicki Rushton did it for the girls having an outstanding race finishing in a time of 12:28:35 earning her 451st overall and 2nd in the V45/50 female category, all this while running with an injured knee and ankle. Tough doesn't come into it. Nicki made another lady very happy at the awards ceremony by turning her Kona slot down!!
Finally in his last race before heading out to Saudi Arabia for a 2 year work placement Jonathon Baron had a great day out clocking a time of 12:59:50 and 636th overall.
2000+ people raced in tough conditions on a tough course. All the Chorley Triathletes would like to thank all the members who turned out to support them!!

The Chorley ladies team was very low on numbers at the 3rd North of England Track and Field event in Stockport. Youngster Holly Brooks took useful points in the Hammer(3), Discus(4) and Shot(2B), supported by Eluned Smith who jumped and threw her way to two 4th places, a 3rd and a 5th in the Long Jump, Triple Jump , Discus and Shot respectively (whilst also trying to entertain two young sons).
Bolu Olufon won his 100m B race, plus 2nd and 5th in the 200m and Long Jump. Andrew Ramsey took a couple of 3rds in the 100m and 200m, plus a second in the Hammer B. John Wright and Marco Sciacca took valuable points in the Hammer, Discus and Javelin. Rick Cordwell came 2nd in the 400m, followed by a 6th in the Shot before he turned his ankle in the High Jump. Ryan Sciacca raced to 2nd in 800m, plus good placings 400m and Shot. Brother Adam just missed a PB in the 5K, but got 3rd in the Long Jump B. The men's team also came 3rd in a couple exciting 4x100 and 4x400m relays. Injured Simon Townsend managed to get some points in the 800m and javelin.
Thanks also to the Chorley officials and supporters.
