Chorley's V60 Tom Hilton loved the damp, cooler conditions for a PB in the Cuerden Park run. First back for the team was Chris Charnley in 20:26, followed by Adi Fairhurst(PB), Michael Hendry, junior Finty Royle, SImon Townsend (PW - personal worst) and John Kay. Anya Townsend just beat debutante Karen Hancock on the last hill to finish 5th and 6th ladies respectively.

16 Chorley Athletes endured the 23C temperatures of the 2nd 5 mile Jubilee race in Rivington. Keith Johnston, Robert Walsh and Ainsley Murphy were the first home, and took 9th team spot. They were followed by Phil Iddon, Martin Quinn, Thomas Kershaw and then 7th lady Laura Murphy. Then came Jonathan Burgess, Mark Bond, Dave Kershaw, Simon Townsend, Lee Childs(first race), Rachael Gibson, Alison Parkinson and Les Paul.

Laura Murphy sprints to a new PB and 5th place in the Cuerden Park run, not far behind fellow Chorley athlete Chris Charnley who took 2nd. Youngster Daniel Lilley in his run took 9th place, followed by Simon Townsend, Joe Bowles, Jonathan Higson and Jane Bowles. More first time youngsters were lead home by Holly Bennison, Harrison Lyons Isabelle Farron (with dad Richard), Oliver and Thomas Murphy. John Minton celebrated his 74th birthday by ace-making a group of runners.

www.horwichrmiharriers.co.uk/events/jubilee Part of the Central Lancs Grand Prix. Chorley moved up to 9th place overall after fielding a complete team of 10 at Haigh Hall. Can we go one better this time around? (Sorry in advance; I have a work commitment so can't get there this time...)

Chorley's Chris Charnley had to PB to beat his fellow team mate Robert Walsh and win the 5K Cuerden Park Run. Bill Beckett was not far behind in 8th, followed by Simon Townsend and Michael Hendry in 19th and 21st. John Kay just missed a PB, and youngsters Harrison Lyons and Amelia Bowles (accompanied by mum Jane). Mike Coppin also just missed a PB by 6 secs.

A fab turnout and great day. Was the first time some of the juniors had competed in a triathlon event so well done everyone!

The first 2014 Badger(10K) race in Cuerden park on a nice evening attracted 14 Chorley athletes with Robert Walsh(10th), Ainsley Murphy(11th), Jonathon Mattock(21st), Paul Wareing(28th) and Bill Beckett(32nd) all leading the charge. Laura Murphy(44th) led the ladies ahead of Michael McGeown(71st), Lindsey Hill(124th) and Lara Dickinson(151st). Phil McCullagh(180th) was next trailed by Steven Wilde(193rd), Jan Atkins(205th), Tom Hilton(234th) and Mike Coppin(242nd). Laura(1st L35) , Robert(3rd V40) and the Chorley team(2nd) were all prizewinners although Laura was the only one to awarded as the others had gone home which was a bit galling for poor Ainsley who was 4th vet(next behind Robert) and a team member who ended up empty handed. Jan(2nd L65) & Mike(2nd V70) both had category positions.

For anyone suffering from the cold when open water swimming (Anna?) try ear plugs.
Sounds too simple to be true but I have been hypothermic twice this year, read about ear plugs, tried them and felt the difference straight away.
The water is getting warmer of course but it definitely makes a difference.

hi dawn only just seen your message i have spoken to alan he said nothing has changed he will be down for 6 to atart at 6.30 all he has said is that if it is to wet then they will not be able to throw hope this helps
