The JUNIOR fell session is this Saturday 29th January. Meet at 10.00 at Rivington & Blackrod High School. You will need clothing suitable for the weather- please no baggy tracksuit trousers. You will also need to bring a drink. If you have them, fell shoes are best but NO SPIKES OR FOOTBALL BOOTS - ordinary trainers are better. the session will last for 2 hours approximately.

Saturday's Cuerden Valley parkrun 5 Km time-trial will be the next 'counter' in the Chorley Road and Trail Grand-Prix (29 March, 9.00 start at The Barn).
Thirty five Chorley runners have already tackled the infamous Cuerden Valley undulations, including the reigning "King of the valley", our very own Tom Hilton, who has taken 7 1/2 minutes off his personal best time since November, and each week supports countless other runners with their own personal goals.
One of the lovely things about the parkrun is that it's a timed run rather than a race; so it's whatever you want to make of it. Each week, the run attracts regional champions alongside people power-walking their way to fitness. Everyone has their own story and reason for running the trail.
Support Chorley next week and don't forget your barcode! (Completely free but you do need to register at the parkrun website.)
If you'd prefer to help instead then volunteers are always made very welcome - please email the team at
cuerdenvalleyhelpers@parkrun.com

Well done to all the junior athletes that attended the Blackpool winter warmer today. For some it was their first time competing in a track and field meeting. U9 Rueben Kay & Emma Cull, U11 Lauren Prince, Alice Singleton and Isabelle Farron, U13 Caitlin McCarrick and U17 Holly Brookes. They all performed brilliantly, with some excellent results.

Hi. Is Javelin on at Holy Cross tonight? We missed last week and my son advises that Alan told the group last week it isn't on, but there's nothing on here to confirm that. Please advise asap. Thanks

Hi All,
On behalf of the School (Children, Parents, Staff & Governors) and the PTA, I would like to express our deep thanks and gratitude to everyone who helped in any way towards putting on such successful races on Sunday. It is a true credit to everyone that it went so well and smoothly and even better that profit on the event was up by 16%!!
The share that is given to School will pay for such things like: coaches for trips (thus saving Parents some money), playground equipment, IT equipment, guest speakers and some much needed resources!! So, a huge thank you once again to everyone.
Kind regards,
Stephen Knight

Katie Minihan produced a scintillating run (23:32), to come first lady in the Cuerden Parkrun series. First home for the club was consistent Robert Walsh(20:16), Chris Charnley was in hot pursuit of him clocking 22:35 and then Joanne Heron (29:39) and Tom Hilton (38:59) making up the team. Over in Preston Jason Riley (24:46) and Emily Warren (32:13) both completed the course.

Four Chorley athletes headed up to the Lake District to take part in the Haweswater half marathon. The weather was wet and windy with a headwind on the way out but a welcome tailwind on the way back. Julian Goudge was first home for the club with an excellent 11th position (1:19.29, 2nd V40) followed closely by Joe "Kona bound" Duckworth 15th (1:20.56, 3rd V40) and also closely behind Adam Critchley 20th (1:22.04 5th V40). This was excellent preparation for the coming Ironman UK! Coming back from injury Anna-Maria Crabtree finished 273rd (1:54:11) out of the 449 finishers which given the circumstances is a very good run.

Well done to those Chorley Juniors who completed 4 races in Mid Lancs. All have another year in their age groups, so this year's placings are fantastic:
U11G Amber Boardman 24th; U11B Jack Hughes 10th, Daniel Lilley 11th; U13G Caitlyn McCarrick 19th; U13B Ben Hughes 9th.

Today we had 15 kids doing the practise daffodil doddle run in wet and windy conditions. Great support by parents who helped me out.
Proud of every one of them, 4 of them had also competed in mid lancs cross country in Kendal yesterday.
PS Still time to enter for Roddlesworth Roller or Daffodil Doddle.

Message for Mike Coppin. Well done for Trotters 5 today, tough race, v hilly! Bit annoyed, I was 3rd in my L35 category, but they've put me down on results as L (younger ladies!) I'm aiming to do the series. Is there any way of getting this changed?
2014-03-01
Laura, Ainsley,
Hi Simon, we entered the daffodil x2 and roddlesworth x2 a few months ago now, online and have not received numbers? Any advice?

Chorley Club is already entered into the Mid-Lancs League and individuals go to the organisers at each meet and enter their events. At your first meeting you get your own no for the year. At the medal meeting(30th Aug) you will pay an entrance fee per event. For the Lancs Champs(24/25th May) you will need to enter separately with a fee.

The club's race "Daffodil Doddle" takes place next weekend, 9th March. If you haven't entered, I think there are still places available:
http://www.youspoon.com/chat/blog.php?id=blog-00079 This is a 2.2km trail race, to the reservoir at Abbey Village.
Richard Farron, one of the junior run coaches is doing a practice run this Sunday, 2nd March. If you want to go along, they are meeting at Hare & Hounds, Abbey Village 2pm. Parents will need to support this session, so please stay and help Richard out to make sure the children are safe and encouraged to run this distance (many won't have done anything like this before). Richard will be wearing Chorley club kit, and looks like a very fit runner, (which he is), so hopefully if you don't know who he is, he'll be obvious!

The 26th Roddlesworth Roller and Daffodil Doddle race will be here soon (9th March 2014). If you are planning to run ... GREAT. If you are not planning to run, and have a spare couple of hours, the club would be grateful for helping hands on the say. If you are interested, please contact Simon Townsend.
