We're holding an information session about the junior triathlon section, the bid to Sport England which, if successful will affect seniors, & our ambitions for the section & the club, on Wednesday 12th February, 6.30-8pm at Tatton Community centre. This will be our cycling base for the juniors. We welcome anyone wanting to find out more about triathlon, whatever your age & ability, to come along. Discounted TE membership will be available on the night (small incentive!) ;)

In the regional Sports Hall final at Sports City the club had 4 representing the Lancashire team .They each competed in 3 events for the Lancashire team, both track and field, with some of them doing new events they hadn't experienced before. They all improved on personal bests in their events. Martin Rimmer, Cai Smith, (selected to Captain the boys team), Joe Bowles and Jack Hughes were all selected from the Chorley club to represent Lancashire at the U11 regional event. Lancashire boys came 5th overall on the day, but it was extremely close throughout the days' competition. The next SportsHall event is 9th February at Stanley Park, Blackpool for 8-14 year olds, is the final one of the season, before the outdoor track and field season starts for 2014."

In the Parkrun Series firstly at Cuerden Valley the club was led home in 3rd overall by Robert Walsh in a superb 20 mins 2 secs. Clubmates Mike Hendry (23:28), Finty Royle (26:30),vet 70 John Minton (32:31) and Tom Hilton (38:21) all ran well to give the club much needed team points. At the Preston event Jason Riley finished in 27:14.

Well done to Martin, Cai (selected as captain for boys team), Joe & Jack who represented Chorley & Lancashire today in the regional Sportshall event. They all competed really well, some in events they'd never done before; had fun & us parents were VERY proud of them. Here's a few photos, maybe some more action ones to follow http://bit.ly/1icU01Z Well done boys :-)

Good to see so many juniors working hard on Thursday night and the smiling faces on exhausted bodies of those coming in from outside. Shame they were followed by the coaches looking like they needed oxygen masks so keep up the good work juniors, and remember, the harder you work, the harder your coaches have to work so don't let them get away with an easy session! And a great turnout at seniors looking good running down into Chorley with only 2 of you (both males) looking over 25. It was me attached to the hand waving out of the van. I am not on commission in selling club kit, but I can assure you it would look much better on those highly toned bodies than in boxes in my lounge! Fab club all, am proud to be part of it!

COME ON DAVE!!

Formidable Chorley athlete, Dave Lee, is now within touching distance in this year's 268 mile spine race along the full length of the Pennine Way.

After more than 150 hours of racing, he's currently on the English/Scottish border and his position can be tracked at the link below. Now within touching distance of the finish, and currently in 21st place, I'm sure all of Chorley are behind him as he strides his way to the finish line.

Carpe Diem!

It was the first ever junior swim session for our club tonight and we had 13 of our juniors attending and 1 new member which is fantastic. Everyone really put effort into their training and most importantly looked to be enjoying it! If you are interested in coming along please contact chorleytri.junior@gmail.com. First come first served so to guarantee a place don't delay in contacting us! Our bike sessions we anticipate to be starting at the end of February. Happy training everyone and preparing for the North West Junior Triathlon series! :-)

I echo all of Stuarts words, Jan will be missed greatly with the children that she coaches at Chorley, An email said thank you for you possitive responses at the parents meeting held at Holy Cross, I must have been at a different meeting to the rest of you. I was also told by Daryl that if I did not like what was happening then to go to another club, not a very professional comment. Back to Jan, the children that she has coached have all bonded well together, there is no distinction between each age group, there are no 'stars' they are all achievers, I can only speak for my daughter by stating the change in her since being coached by Jan is almost a miracle, she has blossomed in self confidence, self esteem oh and her running is doing great too, with a heavy heart I, along with a lot of others, bid farewell to Jan and wish her will with whatever she chooses to do, Take Care Jan xx

17 athletes competed in the second Lancashire Sports Hall event of the season, with the Chorley team finishing 6th overall on the day. U11 boys finished 3rd led by 3rd positions from Martin Rimmer & Jack Hughes, 4th places by Cai Smith & Harry Potts, supported by excellent performances from Joe Bowles, Matthew Brown, Joseph Chadwick and Jamie Rimmer. U11 girls finished 7th, led by performances from Amelia Bowles, 3rd, & Zara Johnson, 6th and personal bests from Lucy Douglass. The team was ably supported by first time competitors Erin Boardman, Isobel Farron and Alice Singleton, who all gave their best throughout the day. U13 boys finished 3rd, with an excellent High Jump win by Ben Hughes, 1.40m, and solid jumping from Finlay Campbell who has just returned from injury. They were supported excellently in the relay by two U11 boys to come third in that event. Holly Brookes, U15, put in some strong performances, with a personal best in shot 7.15m to finish 3rd in the team event overall. SportsHall athletics is the winter training for track and field and prepares juniors to compete against others and have fun with their friends. Three U11 have already been chosen for the Lancashire team event at SportCity on 19th January. We wish Martin Rimmer, Cai Smith and Joe Bowles an enjoyable day representing their county at this event.

Other finishers were Mike Hendry (24:21), Alison Parkinson (27:24), Finty Royle (29:21), Dave Kershaw (32:14) and the improving Tom Hilton (40:16). At Pennington Flash Ainsley Murphy finished in 20 mins 20 secs, whilst at the Preston event Warren Crook clocked 21 mins 7 secs with Jason Riley dipping just under 28 mins in 27:37.

Club member Christine Sweatman, undertook the Greater Manchester X-C Champs at Leigh rather than the Lancashire ones at Blackburn, and did well as 40th lady in 35:40. 4 Chorley juniors travelled to Barrow for the Mid Lancs. cross country on Saturday, but all competed well making the trip worthwhile. U11 Daniel Lilley & Jack Hughes ran strongly, continuing their close finishes, with Daniel just getting in front of a tiring Jack on the finish line to finish 10th and 11th. Tom Perks finished 23rd over a very sticky course. U13 Ben Hughes tried valiantly to keep up with the race leaders for as long as possible, and finished 8th having given everything over the 3.2km course.

Thankyou so much for your kind words regarding my coaching Stuart; they are very much appreciated. I hope to have the opportunity with many other prospective young athletes at Wigan Harriers. I also want to thank all the athletes who have regularly attended my training sessions over the past few years at Chorley who have worked so hard and grown in confidence and ability to succed in whatever they choose to do in life. Thankyou to all the supportive parents; be proud of your sons and daughters, i certainly feel so privileged to have been a part of their athletics training. I will miss you all; maybe i will see some of you in the future at one or two competitions - i certainly hope so. Good luck and best wishes to you all ! Jan X

It is with deep regret that i have heard of level 3 coach Jan Mayor is leaving the club but i understand her feelings. The disrespect to her and the childre who have worked with her over the last year or so They have become a joy to watch enjoying athletics and each others company not to mention the parents who have been so supportive seeing the only group to be disbanded are her athletes no wonder she feels so let down any talk of this being to make the club as one is just i load of rubbish that does not fool her or me for one minute. To tell this group that they can not train on tuesday and thursday but must go to a training session on a monday ( a night when it has been said for 12 months has to many kids ) and then TRY and do what she has done with them is just beyond believe . I do not knoe any coach (this includes myself ) in this club that has the respect she has from the children and parents she takes . she knowes every ones name within a week their strengths and weakneses they in return always tell her any problems or what they do in athletics at home or in school and they all know she will take the time to listen they have learned a lot over the year about pace running style and to see them just to do their warm ups now without being told is a joy .also i do not know any other group that take a break during half term to cut down on the risk of any stress or the risk of doing to much I have no problem with the club deciding to run 365 for any new member if that is the wish but to penalise a group that has trained so well together i feel is a disgrace, not to mention THEIR Humam Rights Jan like myself is in athletics to make a diference to their lives and to try to make them into responsible youths i know that even children with problems have learned respect for her and themselves It is fine if the athletes gain county and national vests but does so on rare occasions I feel lucky in this respect as my record proves i have tried to do this without overtraining them and i have only ever seen this same principle in JAN . I feel JANs case needs to be told to all members to read to understand why she has left the club
