Mark- Fell GP sounds great. Do you know where I can find details of the other fixtures in this year's series, in case I can't make the first one? Also, does anyone know if there will be a club road/trail grand prix this year? Cheers, Mike

Meanwhile over in Yorkshire, Julian Goudge, Darren Fishwick and Paul Jackson completed The Stoop, one of the Woodentop races. Darren had an unfortunate start to his race when someone stepped on ht back of his shoe, which then fell off. Darren had to stop and attempt to put it back on with cold fingers. Now, Darren, bringing up the rear of the race managed to run past 329 out of the 400 runners over narrow, wet, boggy trods to end up in a respectable 70th position (39.44). Jacko jogged round and finished 353rd (59.10). Julian ended up 31st (37.17). Then it was off to the pub for the usual fantastic prizes, which included sprouts, chocolate, drinks and novelty items. A good day out over the border.

Katie Minihan excelled herself to finish first female in the Parkrun at Cuerden Valley, not only did she secure that title but finished 6th overall in 22 mins 37 secs. First home for the club was 2nd placed Robert Walsh (20:19) followed closely by Stephen Baker (26:44), Finty Royle (28:11), Joanne Heron (28:27), Oliver Murphy (32:28), Ainsley Murphy (32:28) and vet Tom Hilton (41:21). In the Preston Parkrun Emily Warren finished a creditable 34:39.

This event is for senior runners only. If you enter fell races this would be ideal for you or if you want to gain new skills please contact Anna Maria on crabbers5@talktalk.net for more information and to book a place.

Annual Xmas Lights Orienteering Event Thursday 19th December 2013 19:30 Just turn up on the night and we sort ourselves into teams, it mainly running around the roads in chorley so shouldn't need any special equipment, pen/pencil may be useful. There will be a time limit( I think it's around an hour) if you stay out after that there are time penalties. It's not serious and we normally order pizzas for the finish, if anyone wants pizza its £5. Its a staggered start from the cricket club first teams going at 7.30, so probably aim to get there for 7.20.

In the Parkrun series firstly at Cuerden Valley Stephen Baker had to be sharp to finish in 26 mins exactly but only 13 seconds ahead of Finty Royle (26:13). Janet Barrow had a sound run to complete the course in 29:37 with veteran male tom Hilton completing in 40:37. At Preston Emily Warren finished in 36:34.

The deadline for entries for the 2014 Championships is fast approaching. I'd be grateful if you could remind your members that this is taking place on 4th January at Witton Park. Athletes can enter by post (forms are on the Lancs AA Championships) or online at Sportsoft http://www.race-results.co.uk/results/2014/lancsxce.htm They can also enter on the day but it is more expensive. There is some leeway with the postal deadline but unfortunately not with the online entries. I hope to see lots of your members in January.

John Payn took himself off to Hillingdon, Middlesex for the British 20K Masters Walking Championships where he expectantly won the over 80 title despite not finding things to his liking. He was freezing cold throughout the race, he had to survive some severe judging which reduced his opposition with frequent warnings and disqualifications, and his 2hrs 44mins is the slowest he has ever done.
