2014 will see the 30th Anniversary of the Dentdale Run and we are looking to get a record number of competitors involved to mark the occasion. If you have not run the Dentdale before you would be amazed at the breathtaking scenery surrounding the dale. It is along the small lanes amongst this scenery that the run is staged. We offer many facilities to our competitors including free car parking, shower facilities, male and female changing rooms, free post race refreshments, prizes and trophies as well as almost instantaneous results posting. We have recently built a website (
www.dentdalerun.com) and Facebook page (
www.facebook.co.uk/dentdalerun) which is where we post all our news, photos, results and anything else to do with the race.

Cross country this Saturday at Sefton Park is EARLIER START. First race is U11 at 11am. Anyone who is planning on running & hasn't run recently, or is new, please contact Stan Jewel 01257 415632 to ensure he registers you. You will receive a different number for this event only as it's part of the national XC series. He hopes to be there about 10:15

Winter Hill - unfortunately, it looks like both Winter Hill fell races will no longer run. Colin Jones (Horwich)posted a statement on the FRA forum, which I've added to the blog for more information.
This is disappointing news, and I'm sure it's been with a heavy heart that the race organisers have had to disseminate this information.

Finty Royle yet again had an inspired run to finish first lady in the Cuerden Valley Parkrun in 26:02. On the same course Robert Walsh timed 20:43, David Parkinson 21:42 and Mike Hendry 23:59. Across the county in Preston Emily Warren finished in 35:05 whilst in Bolton at the Parkrun there Ainsley Murphy finished in 20:52 and name sake Oliver finished in 32:16.

Brilliant performances from the whole Chorley Junior Team at Lancashire sportshall today. Overall we stand at 5th place in team competition - our best results ever. Chances in January and February to do even better and catch the others up?? More detailed results to follow. Well done all of you!

The first Lancashire SportsHall event is Sunday 10th November, Stanley Park, Blackpool, for any junior age 8 to U15, age at 31/08/13. To enter, please contact me at nandtj@gmail.com or Chorley 268590. Events start 11am, and will end about 4.30-5pm. Series discount available for all 3 events. Club entries will be done by myself on the day. Further details for registered athletes will be sent later this week.

With an entry of 312 runners at the 30th Sweatshop/Dressers Arms 8.5 mile Through the Villages race, the club had a number of athletes taking part in this years tough event.
First home was M40 Martin Quinn in a very respectable 59:32 followed by M50 Paul Wareing dipping just 5 seconds under the hour. Fellow vet 50 Andrew Clough finished 31 seconds over the hour but nearly 2 minutes ahead of Allan Blackwell (62:16) and M40 Paul Bass (63:50). Andy Lowe M55 (68:38), Graham Schofield finished 6th M60 (68:50) and Phil McCullagh competing for the second time of the weekend(69:55). Other notable club performances came from:
Jane Bowles F45 (73:27), Marie Boyle (74:36), John Swift M70 (76:20),Joanne Heron (80:18) and Paul Jackson (82:15).
Brinscall born Rich Smith M40, formerly of Chorley and Horwich and now based in the USA , running for team 'Running USA.' finished in 5th overall on 49 mins exactly.

In the popular Parkrun series, firstly at Cuerden Valley, it was a double first with Robert Walsh (20:54) and Finty Royle (26:38) securing first male and female in the event. Ainsley Murphy (4th - 21:34), Mark Bond (10th - 22:29), Mike Hendry (17th - 25:02) and Jonathan Higson (18th- 25:11) completing a strong team effort. At Preston, Emily Warren finished in 36:22, whilst in Bolton John Hurley finished in 37:13.

The clubs Chief Coach, International Race Walker John Payn took the opportunity to produce a seasons best at Simister in the Bill Jackson Cup over 5K. On the undulating hilly course he produced a seasons best to finish in 35:33 with clubmate Phil McCullagh just behind clocking 36:09. John won the Handicap race outright and is looking forward to the coming season with optimism.

hi tracy monday is at holy cross until daryl can sort another venue many years ago my son trained on bonfire night shortly after he got a form of asthma so i said i would never coach on this night because the air quality can be poor so no training this tuesday back to track on thursday

Parkrun- In addition to Rob's record at Cuerdon, I omitted to mention that Chorley junior athlete, Finty Royle (26:38), was also the first female finisher - and was the youngest Parkrunner to be a first finisher at Cuerden, so well done Finty!

Well done to Chorley's Robert Walsh, who was the first runner to finish yesterday's Cuerden Valley Parkrun with a fine run of 20:54.
In doing so, Rob broke the club "record" for this testing, undulating trail course.
Chorley are now the second-most represented running group at the Cuerden Valley Parkrun, which takes place at The Barn at 9.00am every Saturday. It's free to take part - you just need to register on-line beforehand, and bring along a barcode.
