We'll be attending our first Mid Lancs XCountry at Burnley on Saturday - can anyone recommend the best place to park, and do we pick Amber's number up from the Chorley tent? We have pre-registered via Stan. Thank you.

Head Coach and International Race Walker, John Payn decided to try out the scenic delights of Scotland pre the Commonwealth Games at Coatbridge, near Glasgow. John finished 7th overall in the 10K race walking track event in 74 mins 26 seconds and not only secured the Vet 80 category but in doing so beat the vet70 and vet 75 winners plus many other younger competitors.

Well done to the two teams who successfully competed int the British Fell relays today at Llanberis in testing conditions with rain and winds gusting up to 40 mph at times on the tops. Well done to Laura for competing in her first fell race, what a way to start. Thanks to Jacko for saving the day and driving and to Pete and Dave for their support again, priceless. The teams were magnificent and did us proud.

Thanks to everyone for their help at the cross country yesterday. Feedback has been very positive. Special thanks to Mike Coppin for all his work before the event and on the day and to Simon and Pete for their help on the day, it wouldn't have happened without any of them.

Did my only race of the year, the re-arranged Coniston 14 on Saturday, finished in 2hours 7 minutes behind 562 others including Martin Quinn 1-36 (60th), Paul Jackson 1-51 (248th) and Andy Lowe 1-58 (375th?). Started slowly but got faster for a change!

Please contact Anna Maris or Mike Coppin if you are available. Marshalls will be needed from 11.00 through to approximately 4pm but you would not have to do the whole session.

Chorley athletes were again successful in the Ian Hodgson relay in Patterdale today. Despite very wet and windy weather with poor visibility the mixed team came 37th overall and 3rd mixed team in this prestigious event. Well done Lynne, Jackie, Malc, Mark, Tash, Dawn, Julian & Darran for your brilliant run. Navigational skills were well tested and we proved that we could hold our own amongst the 'big boys of fell racing'. Thanks also to Pete Gillham and Dave Lee for your support and Jacko for the entry.

The following is a report of the 'Chorley' contingents fell relay teams performance in the Ian Hodgeson fell relays at Patterdale in Cumbria.
9.20am on Sunday 6th October signaled the start of the Ian Hodgeson fell relays at Patterdale in Cumbria.
Chorley Athletic & Tri Club were fielding a strong mixed team of 4 ladies and 4 men in this ambitious race over some of Lakelands most challenging peaks.
During the course of the 4 legs covering 24 miles with over 8,400 feet of steep ascent and descent the runners would encounter very low cloud cover, poor visibility and extremely slippery ground conditions in the persistently windy wet weather that would accompany the race throughout.
Lyn Clough and Jackie Redmayne both returning following injury, were 1st off, steeply climbing out of Patterdale on the Coast to Coast route to Boredale Hause and past Angle tarn before dropping to hand over to legs two runners at Hartsop.
Malc Christie recovered from his successful 'Bob Graham Round' and partnered well with the ever capable Mark Ellithorn took over, ascending the track from Hartsop, past Hayeswater, rounding The Knott, High Street, Cauldale Moor to finish leg 2 at Kirkstone Pass.
Leg 3 had the ever reliable pair of Natasha Fellowes and Dawn Atkins tackle the dauntingly steep Red Screes, passing through Scandale Pass and onto Dove Crag. Natasha with Dawn hot on her heels descended in her usual pure gravitational manner, in so doing surprised all waiting at Sykeside and had the last leg runners hurrying across to the line to meet them in time for the handover.
Darren Fishwick with over 100 fell race already behind him this year and the consistently well placed Julian Goudge would bring the team home after negotiating Dove Crag, Hart Crag, Fairfield and St. Sunday Crag, completing the circuit with the long descent back to Patterdale.
Conditions had been tough for all even the support crew of Anna Marie Crabtree, Pete Gillham and Dave Lee who also got a good soaking in the process.
Congratulations must go to the team for securing 3rd mixed team and enduring the terrible weather conditions with their usual grit, determination and pure spirit of this truly testing sport.
Dave Lee.
Chorley Athletic & Tri Club.

...for more accuracy, I know I came in before the First Lady and her team mate and so placed either 50th, 51st, or 52nd. Honestly not bothered about it for me but if it makes a difference to the club scores and someone knows who to contact, please do so or let me know who and I will.

More for club points than my vanity, I'm missing from race results and came in between Martin and Paul. My race number was 90. Don't know if this can be changed to improve clubs position?

A lovely Sunday morning at Gin Pit Village saw Chorley raise the 10 required athletes for the 5 mile Central Lancs Grand Prix with Martin Quinn(49th) first back ahead of Ainsley Murphy and then Paul Wareing(63rd). The second wave of Chorley runners had Warren Crook(94th), Laura Murphy(100th) being the 3rd L35 just taking Michael Hendry(101st) before Simon Townsend(120th). Christine Sweatman(138th) was also 3rd L55 leading in Phil McCullagh(144th) and a distant Mike Coppin(189th). Before the senior race two Chorley juniors ran really well in the fun run with Tom Murphy(17th) just beating brother Oliver(18th) being 5th B7 & 3rd B8 respectively in their age groups.

Cheers Mike. Hopefully will be able to leave the boys at the start/finish, if there's anyone around and then we can both run, maybe that'll make 10 Chorleys!

Laura- all seniors run together for main race at 11 am, but there is a 2 mile fun run beforehand at 10.30. There's usually a number of people watching at the start/finish (Not sure, but I think it's two laps)- my Helen and James should be there.

Laura
Ainsley is running and I'd like to but have no one to watch the boys. Presume men and women run together?

Roll up, roll up... If anyone is still umming and ahing about having a go at tomorrow morning's Gin Pit 5 CLGP - don't forget that it's a counter in the Chorley club competition.
We could be tantalisingly close to making up a team! (>10 needed)

This year, Chorley has 2 entries for the London marathon. If you are interested in one of these entries, please reply to Tash and your name will go into a ballot. To qualify you must be a fully paid up member of the club. The 2 successful names will be drawn out of the hat and announced on the evening of our Christmas do.
