Any athlete intending to compete at Mid Lancs Medal meeting 31st Aug does need to enter. Entries can be done on day. You MUST have competed in 2 previous Mid Lancs events this year.

John Payn, Chorley's international race walker, competed at the British Masters Championships 30K(24 laps) race at Warwick University with renewed vigour as he is now in the 80+ category and duly won the British title and gold medal despite the very warm day and receiving a 'bent knee' warning, which he said happened when he slowed down for a breather !! John now has his sights set on Pushkin, a Russian, who is the only athlete in the world with a faster time than his.....so roll on the European & World championships ! John's time was 3:58:02.

There is no junior training Tuesday 6th August, but training will go ahead Tuesday 13th at Worthington Lakes when there will be another time trial for anyone available to give it a go.

It's the last Northern Mens and Womens Track and Field event next Saturday in Salford. Chorley have a chance of promotion if we can get a good size team out. If you want to try a run or field event, please contact me. It is great fun with no pressure. All welcome of any standard, but must be 15+.

Well done to 3 Juniors who competed in the Tristar age groups at Blackpool Triathlon on Sunday. Jack Hughes & Elizabeth Baron have another year in their age group, achieving 8th & 17th places in this event. Ben Hughes competed well achieving a good 9th place in first event at this distance. Development planning for the triathlon section is taking shape. Nicki Rushton took part in the Liverpool based British Triathlon age qualifying event. This massive event has a lot of top athletes taking part as it was a qualifying opportunity to compete in London in September for GB team. Held over the Olympic distance of 1500m swim in the dock, 40k bike and 10k run, she had a good race with a personal best by 2 mins despite the 25 degree heat, was 22nd in category finishing in Time 2:29:17.

International traveller and competitor Joe Duckworth travelled to Germany to take part in the Datev Challenge Roth Ironman . After an outstanding Swim : 1:09:06, a superb bike ride of 5:06:40 followed up with an incredible run over the marathon distance finishing in 3:08:57, he finished in an amazing 9hrs 29mins 45 secs. This outstanding achievement placed him 115th out of 5500 competitors! His result also earned him 6th position in the Fire-fighter Ironman World Championships. This was run in tandem with the event. Club Chair Daryl Peter said " This was an outstanding result by an outstanding athlete. The club is very proud of him and his achievement.

Sorry for delay in posting this, big well done to the juniors who did the Wirral Triathlon on 7th. The Hughes brothers both competing in the Novice races along with first time Triathlete Ethan Ingram. Ben Hughes pulled in an impressive first place for the U13 category, Jack Hughes was 2nd for U11 and Ethan 4th for U11. Elizabeth Baron bravely competed in the TriStar 1 Category and did brilliant in 12th place.

At the NARWA Race Walking Championship over 20k at Simister on a undulating course International John Payn finished in a time of 2hrs 35mins despite the extremely hot conditions claiming 12th overall and 3rd on handicap

The last Northern Track and Field event is on Saturday 3rd August 2013 in Salford. We are currently in 3rd place, but not far off 1st place (which should be able to achieve). We will lose some athletes to holidays, so we would needs more men and women to run, jump and throw (and have fun) at the next event. We had 3 new athletes helping out at the last event, and 2 of them won one of their events!

In the relay aptly named a Tough Tottie but what is regarded as tough conditions against some top class triathletes in the 450 strong field in this very popular but very tough 70.3 Nicki Rushton, Jenni Boocock and mum Boocock finished 177th in a time of 6:32:25.
