The 21 mile Wasdale Horseshoe in Cumbria is a much more brutal race and a brave duo contested this with Darren Fishwick a great 62nd(5hrs:30) and Paul Jackson 113th(6hrs:28).

The English Northern Athletics U20s championships at Hull had only one Chorley representative making the long journey north who was Luke Betts where he won his heat of the 800m in 1:59:69 in the fastest qualifying time but was just beaten in the final to 2nd place with an even quicker 1:53:10.

Ben enjoyed Ambleside Sports Fell race today, although the toughest one he's done "Did you see how steep it was Mummy?" Think he was 6th or 7th, which is fantastic result. A great event & one we'll add to Junior list for next year - lots of events for all ages and abilities. Good to meet some Chorley Seniors too ;)

I'm disappointed with the new Chorley vest - it clung to me like a wet blanket last night and when I managed to get it off, I wrang about a cupful of sweat from it. With my two previous Chorley AC vests from different manufacturers and, prior to that, two Chorley Harrier vests from different manufacturers, none have held liquid like this one does.

Results from Bolton Ironman (3.9km swim, 180km bike, 42.2km run)
Joe Duckworth Swim 1:15:50 T1 3:54 Bike 5:40:49 T2 2:44 Run 3:51 overall time 10:54 which was 77th overall in race and 15th in the 40-45 age cat suffered with GI problems on the run but happy with the result considering the focus this year was to get to Las Vegas for the 70.3 worlds
Adam Critchley Swim 1:15:37 T1 4:04 Bike 6:16:17 T2 3:22 Run 3:48:33 overall time 11:27 which was 146th overall in the race and 30th in th 35-39 age cat. A great result for Adam who was trained like a superstar. This is almost 30 minutes quicker than his 2010 result and this was much tougher conditions.

A Badger(10K) race also occurred in Cuerden Park which seemed to be run at a faster than usual pace with a good group of Chorley athletes participating having Jonathan Higson(27th) leading home, Nicola Barnfather(53rd), Martin Quinn(57th), Mark Bond(61st) and Graham Schofield(73rd). The second half of the field was led by Andrew Lowe(92nd) with Phil McCullagh(121st), Rachael Clarke(133rd), Tom Hilton(166th) and Mike Coppin(173rd) following. Nicola ran well to gain the 1st LV35 prize and Tom the 1st V65 challenged by Mike as 2nd V65.

In race walking John Payn was off to Warwick University for the British Masters 30K championships which he completed in 3hrs 53:53(about 7 mins slower than last year) but he only finished 2nd in his class being well and truly put in his place by Arthur Thompson who broke the world record by 10 mins. A philosophical John said 'well being beaten into 2nd to a world record isn't that bad !'

The Hurst Green(5) trail race had Phil McCullagh in 140th, Haigh Hall(4) had Dawn Atkins in 26th and the 1st lady, and the Windmill(HM) at Lytham had Tom Hilton in 292nd and 3rd V65.

Well done to all primary athletes who took part in the primary team marathon.
You all ran awesome and collectively completed the marathon distance in 1hour 58minutes and 5seconds.What a fantastic time!!!
Be proud of yourselves and always believe you have the potential to achieve and be successful in life.

A very small Chorley team for today's Mid-Lancs T&F. Newcomer Georgia Martin ran 2 great races in the 100m (14.0) and 200m. Dominic ran a 100m pb (15.9), high jump (1.15) and a below par long jump. I did the 100m (12.3) and a poor long jump. Gave up waiting for the triple jump but at least the sun was out!!

Luke Betts went to run in the Sale sizzler 5k race on Thursday evening. He came 6th out of over 400 and was first jm. His time over the 5k course was a fantastic 15 mins 35 secs.

Hello to all primary aged athletes who train at any of the sessions with Chorley.
For anyone who is not already aware of the arrangements for the 'Primary Team Marathon Event' Friday 20th July; if you can arrive at Bolton Arena and make your way to the running track round the back of the arena for 6pm, that will be great.
There is no charge for the event; there will be refreshments on sale for a small charge.
Hope to see lots of you there for a fun evening; i have ordered some sunshine !!

The Chester triathlon was another superb effort from Nicki Rushton in 326th supported by Steven Thomas in 565th place.

Clougha Pike(5) also attracted 4 athletes with Darren Fishwick(24th), Dave Kershaw(86th), Glyn Denver(99th) and John Minton(118th) collecting the V70 prize. Compton's Cross(9) was contested by Graham Schofield(26th). Bollington Nostalgia(7) hill race was visited by Darren Fishwick(21st) and Andrew Clough(33rd & 4th V50) with Amberswood trail race(10K) in Wigan supported by Paul Wareing in 17th.

'Aggies Staircase(4) fell race at Darwen drew 18 Chorley athletes with Dominic Raby in 5th having his usual excellent performance and the ladies winning the team prize with Natasha Fellowes(77th), Katherine Minihan(93rd) and Nicki Rushton(108th). Indispersed were Andrew Clough(63rd), Paul Jackson(72nd), Martin Quinn(79th), Simon Townsend(91st) and Jonathan Burgess(101st). The next contingent contained Henry Minorczyk(120th), Graham Schofield(143rd) and Joanne Heron(145th). A battle occurred between Sarah Heys(167th), Rachael Clarke(168th) and Phil McCullagh(169th) as indeed further back with Tom Hilton(175th), Shelley Parkinson(176th) and Mike Coppin(178th). Individually Natasha was 1st LV40, Katherine 1st junior, Nicki 2nd LV40 with 4th places for Henry(V60s) & Shelley(LV50s). This was also an Inter-Club race with Chorley winning the ladies team and 2nd V60s with Tom Hilton the leading V60 runner.
