well done to luke betts ran 1.51.92 tonight in the bmc 800 a new pb by over 1 second this puts him in the top 15 under 20s in the uk and in the top 100 in all uk men well deserved so fingers crossed he has a good race next week when he runs for the county at gateshead in the schools

On Sunday Darren Fishwick continued his exploits competing in the Tom Tittman fell race over 4miles (700ft) near Hebden Bridge claiming 13th spot in 32.48.

On Saturday the Forest of Bowland provided the backdrop for 4 Chorley runners taking part in the Clougha Pike fell race over 5miles with 1250ft of ascent. The outstanding performance of the day came from Vet 70 John Minton who finished 118th overall but claimed the vet 70 prize beating many a younger competitor !
In 24th Darren Fishwick (43.41) led the contingent home followed by Dave Kershaw (86th/54.08) and Glyn Denver (99th/58.06).

Wow, must have been pushing 100 athletes at training tonight.
But unfortunately we are now victims of our own success, and will will need to temporarily stop taking NEW primary age children. Children who have already registered and/or paid membership should continue to come as normal. This will be reviewed regularly. We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Well done to Ben & Jack Hughes & Lauren Prince for their fantastic performances at today's Quadrathlon at SportCity. Great event & all achieved personal bests. They came 3rd, 4th & 8th respectively - can't ask for better than that against stiff competition. Even the weather was better than the Park run on Friday! Results here

well done to Luke Betts and Ryan Sciacca, Luke came first and Ryan second in the 800m race at Wigan on Saturday. It was the Lancashire Schools event. Luke has now been selected for the Lancashire team to compete over 2 days at Gateshead in the English Schools (6th and 7th july). The conditions for track running on Saturday were awful but Adam Sciacca pulled of 3rd place in the 1500m. well done to all the Athletes who took part.

Darren Fishwick led a large Chorley field at the annual Two Lads fell race (part of the Horwich festival of racing).
He powered home in 37:34 to take the first V40 finish in an excellent 11th place overall.
The 'mighty' trio of Martin Quinn (31), Garry Platt (38) and Andy Clough (42) all ran strongly behind, with the men's A team taking sixth place overall.
Nicki Rushton (75th and 7th lady) ran brilliantly to lead the third-placed ladies team in 47:03, followed by Joanne Heron (98), Jane Bowles (99) and Sarah Heys (113)enjoying her first fell race for Chorley. Michael Hendry (70), Graham Schofield (78) and Steve Thomas (105) all had decent runs to complete the strong club contingent.

3 Chorley athletes went to the Lake District to compete in the Great Lakes Fell Race (an English championship counter over 13m 7000ft). The conditions were horrendous, heavy rain all day and visibility down to a few metres. Natasha Fellowes finished in 4.15hrs using her superior navigational skills to out pace Darren Fishwick (5.25hrs) and Paul Jackson (6.19hrs).

Blythe and I did the Horwich 1 mile run today. Blythe dragged me around and we managed 7:53 and 7:54 respectively, a great time for both of us!

Instead of the Interclub I had an enjoyable couple of hours at the Northern Vets Joe Moran Memorial Meeting at SportCity tonight. Ended up with gold in the V40 100m in a disappointing 12.5 sec, gold in the Javelin with a very pleasing PB of 28.43m, gold in the High Jump with a PB of 1.55m (only narrowly failing 1.60) and silver in the 400m with another PB of 59.6 sec.
