An extremely busy week for Club races starting with Wed (13th) the CAC Inter-Club road race at Preston(Vernon Carus Sports Club on Factory Lane, Penwortham at 19:30) - also on this date is the CHAT GP race at 3 Sisters Country Park. Unfortunately it is not possible to do both so members will have to choose ; then Thurs(14th)the Two Lads(5.25)fell race from Horwich - a CHAT GP race. A days rest before Sat(16th) Chorley's Great Hill race(5.75) from Brinscall fair at 15:00 followed by another CHAT GP race of Hendon Brook(13.5) race on Sun(17th). Obviously the Club would like all members to as many of these races as they can with particular attention to our own event of Great Hill where both runners and helpers are needed.

The Rabys reigned supreme on a wet and blustery evening atop Winter Hill for the local Hendersons End Fell race on Thursday.
Dominic Raby arrived home in 4th place (43.56) followed by first lady Nicola Raby (54.45) with an excellent run.
Dave Kershaw (55.58) got the better of Michael Hendry (56.03) in a dash to the finish. Graham Schofield (66.57) and V70 John Minton (69.18) completed a memorable night for Chorley.

Any over 35s (male and female) who want to try some track & field or just try a few new events, there is a Northern Vets T&F meet at SportCity on Wednesday 13th, 7pm start. Very low key event. All welcome - no need to be a NVAC member. Register on the night (I think its £3 or £4 for 4 events). Valuable practice for filling those spaces in the Northern T&F League !!

Much travelled Darren Fishwick took to the Isles - the Isle of Jura fell race over 17miles and 7700ft of ascent last weekend in scorching conditions, he finished in an excellent time of 4.56hrs, and 77th out of 208 finishers. He then travelled onto the Ennerdale fell race over 23mile and 7500ft of climb finishing 46th in time 5.08hrs, position 46th. He was the only Chorley runner at both of these races.

Chorley was well represented at Helvellyn and Dodd's Fell race with Natasha Fellowes having a brilliant run to clock 3hrs:02:43 just 7 seconds of the course record .
Hassan Khattab, finished 15th also on 3hrs:02:43 followed by vet 50 Gary Platt in 16th (3:03:18) ,vet 40 Jacqueline Redmayne (3:41:27) , Nicola Raby (3:43:28) and Paul Jackson (3:45:29 making for a very good team performance as well!

Sunday saw two Chorley athletes try their hands at fell running at the Saddleworth race. Jack Hughes came an excited first in the U8 race and Ben Hughes a really good third in his first time in the U12 age group.

Vet 45 David Nelson finished the BUPA 10k in a very creditable 44.39,he also raised over £200 so far for Christies .

The highlight of the week has to be clubmate Graeme Ballard establishing a 100m world record at the Paralympics World Cup in Manchester.Graeme beat the 12.15 seconds set by China's Wa Wai So in 2007 with a time of 11.98.
All at the club would like to congratulate him on this outstanding achievement.

On the fells 7 heat exhausted hardy runners tackled the Hutton Roof fell race. All 7 runners need a special mention as they all finished a superb team effort:- Lynn Clough, Dawn Atkins, Nicki Rushton, Graham Schofield, Hassan Khattab, David Williams and Martin Quinn all deserve medals! Chorley came in as 1st female team with Lynn 1st vet 40 and 3rd lady overall and Dawn 5th lady overall.
Junior Caitlin McCarrick ran in the Belmont Winter Hill on the 12 May and secured first U12 female.

Great turnout again at the Primary League event at Wigan on Friday, with some Chorley athletes only having been with the club for a week! Some good competition, results should be out later this week. Chorley are well set up for a good medal meeting on 6th July. Well done everyone :)

I am away from the 27th May till 11th June staying with one of my son's in America.
Therefore there will be no training for the primary group on Tuesdays and Thursdays after tonight until 12th June.
Regarding the Chorley primary marathon team event on the 20th July; the track at Horwich is booked from 6pm till 8.30pm,we will have a fun night with a happy memory for all involved. Anyone needing any further information please contact me on my mobile when i return from my holiday - 07425159380.

Three juniors braved a chilly Sportcity to run the Bupa Manchester Junior Run. Meghan finished an excellent 81st out of 152, Dominic a brilliant 47th out of 133 and Scott had a superb run to finish 11th out of 221.

just a note to let the club know that Luke Betts is part of the Oylimpic Torch relay. His leg is on the 1st June at 10. 21am in Southport, on Scarisbrick New rd. He was nominated by Joanne Green and was picked out of Thousands of entries!!

Junior Katie Minihan won her first 10K in an excellent time of just over 44mins in the Beaverbrooks event.
