My form has been continuing to progress with the final cross country race in my calendar for the season before an exciting and ambitious track season ahead. It was the British colleges cross country championships where I represented the North West region and Runshaw College along with Adam Sciacca. It was a succesful race as I race as I finished 6th and Adam finished 25th in a field of over 60 athletes all representing their regions from around the country. We also managed to secure second team prize with which we were awarded medals. It has been a good experience for us both!!!

On the fells in the 21 mile extremely difficult Edale Fell race Jacqueline Redmayne was 194th(3rd LV40) beaten by Martin Quinn(130th), Darren Fishwick(99th) and the first Chorley counter in a magnificent 34th(5th V45).

Chorley athletes were at the Vera Hirst(5K) race at Littleborough having Michael Chalfont in 11th place(3rd V40), the Belle Vue(10K) at Ormskirk coming 25th(3rd V50) Gary Platt, and Paul(39:10) and Julie(64:26) Wareing doing the Eastleigh(10K) at Southampton.

Message for primary/junior athletes who train Tuesdays at Worthington Lakes.There will be training for anyone who can make it 3rd April; but there will be no training on the 10th April.
There will be training 5th and 12th April as normal at Horwich track.

On the roads in the 10 mile Lancashire champs at Lytham were Joe Duckworth(27th) as a very good 4th V40, with Phil McCullagh(213th), Shelley Parkinson(255th) and Tom Hilton(281st).

Running for Lancs in the Inter-Counties XC in Birmingham, Luke Betts was 55th and the second counter for Lancs from a large field before going onto Taunton, Somerset for the English schools XC where he stormed to 26th and was again Lancs 2nd counter.

It was great to see lots of friendly faces at Holy Cross last night for Monday night training; i felt like i had never been away. I am in the process of getting help with the care of my husband, and work are allowing me to finish at 5.30pm , so fingers crossed i am optimistic i will have the capacity to return to coaching some evenings.For now i will be available at Horwich track Thursdays 7-8pm for track training and long jump for the primary/junior athletes. From Tuesday 27th March i will be going to Worthington Lakes to promote speed endurance running with any young athlete from school Yr 3 and upwards.
I am looking forward to the opportunity of working with anyone interested in these training sessions.
I will be at Holy Cross Monday 26th if anyone wants anymore information.

Luke has been very busy over the last two weekends. Firstly travelling to Birmingham to represent Lancashire in the Televised Inter Counties xc (10/3/2012) in a field of 200 he finished 55th and 2nd counter for Lancs. Pleased with his performance he travelled Friday night with the Lancashire Schools team, to Ilton in Somerst to compete in the English Schools xc ( 17/3/2012). In a field of over 300 he stormed to a fantastic 26th and 2nd counter for Lancs, only 6 seconds of the top 20. Now a weekend of then he is of to Bath uni to represent the Northwest colleges in his final xc of the season.He is now really looking forward to the track.

Ian Gouldthorpe had gone to the British Masters Championships at Lee Valley where he was 5th(5.65m) with a PB in long jump and 3rd(11.25m) and disappointed in the triple jump.

The Blackpool open T&F meeting 3 Chorley juniors had very good warm-ups for the season with Lauren Price(U9), first time ever competition, 2nd in 80m and 4th in 600m. The Hughes brothers Jack(U9) & Ben(U11) both won their long jumps, and were 4th & 3rd respectively in the 80m and 4th & 2nd in the 600m

On the fells had Lynne Clough 40th(2nd lady), Hassan Khattab(48th) chasing, with Paul Jackson(93rd) and Graham Schofield(132nd) in the Pendle Round(8m) race, Darren Fishwick(72nd) and junior Harrison Denver(19th) at Ilkley Moor, with Darren(63rd) out again in the Cloud Nine Hill race at Congleton

The Blackpool marathon had Chorley athlete Jonathan Mann in 55th place(3hrs21mins) and the half-marathon Chris Lane in 11th(82:11) - both superb times, whilst the Blackpool Spring(5K) housed Emma Perrin in 17th(19:56) being the first female.

Early start on Saturday ended with a new indoor long jump pb of 5.65m (only 2cm down on outdoor pb and a 32cm improvement) for 5th place. Disappointing jumping on Sunday in the triple jump with only 11.25m (with one foul pushing 12m) but 3rd place.

Three Juniors entered the Blackpool Winter Warm Up Track and Field event last Sunday. Lauren Prince on her first time on a track finished a brilliant 2nd in the U9 80m sprint and a great 4th in the U9 600m. Jack Hughes won the U9 Long Jump with a great 2.92m and was 4th in both the U9 80m and 600m. Ben Hughes won the U11 Long Jump with an equally great 3.80m and was 2nd in the U11 600m and 3rd in the U11 80m. A great event. Next one at Wigan on 15th April. Further details to follow.

The Haweswater(HM) from Brampton had a good contingent of Chorley runners with Keith Johnston in an excellent 12th(80:04), Ian & Anna-Maria Crabtree locked together at 237/8th(107:17), Mark Philbin 440th(127:52) and Tom Hilton 473rd(136:38).

The Trimpell(20) at Lancaster featured Dan Edwards 123rd(153:43) and Emma Spence 199th(168:31) training for the London marathon, with the Blackpool(10K) containing Rachael Clarke in 183rd(54:11).
