i have just noticed there is no venue on for tonight we will meet at holy cross for the next few weeks if this changes i will put on the web site do not get the thursday sessions mixed with tue the skew bridge is thursday for john's group

The usually popular Ashurst Beacon(5) fell race at Newburgh only attracted 2 Chorley athletes this year due to race clashes with Graham Schoffield(86th) and Marie Dewhurst(131st) being 3rd & 5th respectively in their age categories.

A keen group of 8 Chorley AC U11 athletes went to Blackpool for a Sportshall competition containing 11 different disciplines in which Ben Hughes starred being 4th at 3 laps, 3rd in both javelin & triple jump and 11th in the vertical jump and consequently has been selected for the divisional finals in Manchester. Teddy Henry, Harrison Denver(8th in the chest push), Alex Lucas, Jack Hughes, Scott Gouldthorpe(9th in the speed bounce), Emily Hunter & Eleanor Lucas all supported well with good performances each.

The following should present themselves at the RMI Club, Horwich on Sat. 4th Feb at 20:00 to be presented with their awards - Fergus Tallon(3rd), Ryan Sciacca(5th), Adam Sciacca & Joe Ellison(2nd team), Henry Minorczyk(2nd), Mike Coppin(2nd) & John Minton(1st) plus all supporters who wish to attend. Pie & peas normally served as well.

In the Auld Lang Syne race on New Years eve from Haworth Dominic Raby had a fantastic race to finish 20th(47:15) and only had internationally named runners in front of him ; this was a dramatic 10 place improvement for him from last year.

Surprisingly another non-celebrator at New Year was Andrew Clough who completed the Nine Standards Yomp(9) at Kirkby Stephens in 57th(72:40).

Mike, You forgot the excellent run of Dominic Raby in 47'.15" and 20th place (up 10 places from last time) Ten of those ahead of him were elite runners (with names instead of numbers).

'The last race of 2011 the Auld Lang Syne(6 fell race from Howarth had a capacity field with a few Chorley athletes finishing to gain their specially brewed bottles of beer. First in was the busy Darren Fishwick(64th) followed by Lynne Clough(106th) as 3rd FV40 then perpetual racer Paul Jackson(109th), Hassan Khattab(114th), Nicola Raby(215th), Graham Schoffield(228th), Nicki Rushton(231st), Marie Dewhurst(312th), Tom Hilton(385th) and finally Janet Chaplin(388th) taking a break from her tea room.

Had a great start to the year by rupturing my cruciate ligament :( probably having op next month.
So will miss this year. will come down to track when on my feet so you don't forget who I am!

Nearly 900 runners competed in the Ribble Valley 10K road race. Martin Quinn (39:26) led the team home in 233rd place, followed by V50s Ian Leonard (44:44), Andrew Lowe (47:20), Philip McCullagh(52:28) and Stephen Hall (1:00:36). V65 Tom Hilton split the V50s with a great time of 1:00:26.

Chorley XC - Sat 10/12/11. I have to thank all those in CAC whom enabled the XC in Astley Park to succeed and seemingly get many favourable comments. Particularly to John Payn & Barry Chester for helping me set up the courses, Simon Townsend for his organisation of the woodlands and marshalls, and for all those who kindly gave up their time( and their race) to marshall.

On the roads Jan Mayor went to the Lakes to run the Great Langdale(10K) securing a Xmas pudding in 328th(63:33) securing 3rd lady V55.
