During the next 2 weeks we are hosting the final Astley Trail Races (junior and senior) and the Interclub race, both in Astley Park. Pre-event planning has highlighted that we will be VERY short of helpers on both nights (mainly due to holidays). If you are not running, please support the club and come along to help. Astley Trail Series Helpers should meet outside Astley Hall at 18:15 on 5th August 2015.

I am putting an Uphill 1 Mile race on at the bottom of the Ramp Winter Hill on Thursday 27th August all ages welcome start at 7.15 Entry Fee £2 see how slow you can race a Mile open to Horwich and friends at Chorley at other local clubs.

After reviewing coach availability during the forthcoming holiday period, a number of Junior training sessions have had be be cancelled.
Monday (Holy Cross) and Thursday (Astley Park) Summer Training Closures.
No training on August 10th & 13th
No training on August 17th & 20th
No training on August 24th & 27th
No training on August 31st - Bank Holiday
All other sessions will run as normal unless otherwise stated by the coaches.

The CAAT Committee meeting advertised for 22/7 19:15 at the Barons Rest, Astley Village has now been moved to Wed 29th July (same time & place) to avoid the Harrock Hill event.

The Chorley Inter-Club is fast approaching and for those of you who don't know it is our responsibility to host the race and post race buffet which is held in the barons rest pub.
We are catering for about 200 people judging by numbers at previous races, so to have some idea of what food we require I have made a list of some food suggestions and posted it on the facebook page

The intention is to maybe move forward with this once holiday time is over in September. A 21 mile family bike ride around the Preston Guildwheel is taking place on Saturday 11th July. Meet at The Continental at the west end of Avenham Park at 10am. Please bring bike, helmet, appropriate clothing, drinks, snacks, correct size spare tubes and cash for food stops. Please let either Steve, Mark, Andy or Vicky (vicky@amlavin.gotadsl.co.uk) know if you are coming so we don't set off without you!

This Friday the 3rd July is the final primary league which is the medal meeting. It will start earlier than usual so please be there by 5.45 because you have to register again on individual sheets. Please bring your number from the previous meetings (I have now run out) and you must be wearing a club tshirt or vest. It will finish later than usual as medals will be given out to 1st, 2nd and 3rd places on the night! Children will only be racing against their own year groups unlike previous meetings. They can pick two track and one field event or one track and two field events. However they cannot do the 600m and 1200m they can only pick one.
On a final note if you haven't been to one of the previous three meetings you are unable to enter the medal meeting.

It's the 3rd Astley Trail Series event this Wednesday, and as usual we would be most grateful for help with marshalling, etc. We were a little short of help at the last event junior and senior races, so please help if you can. Please meet outside Astley Hall from 18:15 to 18:30.

Thursday 25th June - Witton park relays at Blackburn. Hopefully many members can make this great event, teams will be made up on the day so just turn up and we will we sort you into teams. Each team comprises of 3 members and each leg is apx 3.65 km on a trail marked/marshalled path. The teams can be a mixture of old, young, female or male so please come down and join in the fun (Juniors must be over 12yrs of age). Starts at 7pm, so please try get there by 6:30pm so we can sort out the teams.
Thursday 2nd July - Due to the Witton park relays, the social pizza night is being moved back by one week. Hopefully, we can have a great turnout as we did last time for this social event. Its a friendly run starting at 7:30pm from Chorley Cricket Club followed by pizza (£5 per person). This night will also celebrate the appointment of the new ladies captain Laura Murphy (plus its her birthday) and to thank Anna-Maria for all her hard work she has done in the last few years and more as captain. Please come down for a run, pizza and beers - what more can you want!

TIME TRIAL: Due to temporary traffic lights on the course, this Thursday Southport time trial is now a 10 not a 25.
Rather than reschedule at this point we will just include it as the 10 and look to reschedule what was the 10 for a 25.

It was gold yet again for club coach and International race walker John Payn as he took first Vet 80 in the British Masters 5K at Horwich clocking 37:21 to finish well ahead of younger competitors. Not to be outdone Vet 50 Phil McCullagh finished in a faster time of 34 minutes to claim silver I his age group. Jim Munn (vet80) finished in a creditable 41:46.

Horwich Festival of Racing.
This Sunday is the 1st time the Horwich Festival of Racing will include Triathlon. CATC have a mixed team of five entered by invitation.

It's an early start for spectating but there's a whole day of closed road racing for all ages to enjoy and includes 1 mile fun run.
You can enter the running events on the day so get yourself down and enjoy the atmosphere and opportunity to run 5k or 1m locally and on closed roads.
