Another busy day for the track and field athletes today at Wigan today. U13 Jack Hughes tried out new events and gained medals in all three!
U13 Emily Warren & Izzy Thompson performed brilliantly in all their events. U17 Holly Brookes had 1 throw in the discus before it got called off, due to the weather. Senior Rick Cordwell gained a gold medal in the 400m hurdles.

Thanks to everyone that came to Blackpool for the 1st of the Mid-Lancs track and field events today. U13 Daniel Lilley, Lauren Prince, Annabell Stewart, Izzy Thompson and Isabelle Farron all competed magnificantly, all earning points for the Chorley team (their 1st time competing in this league). U17 Holly Brookes achieved another PB in the Shot Putt with a throw of 8.43m. U20 Anna Peers won both the Discus and the Javelin. Seniors Rick Cordwell and John Wright also earned valuable points for the team.

Hi all, It is the next race in the Central Lancs Grand Prix on Sunday 12/4/15 - 11am start. It is the Radcliffe 10K. There will be car sharing from the flat iron carpark, Chorley town centre (near the soldier statue) leaving at 9.15AM prompt. I would advise entering as earlyas possible on the day, it filled up last year

Does anyone know if there is a trophy cabinet or somewhere to display trophies at the Cricket Club? Chorley won 3 trophies for last years interclub and they would be better on display if possible.

Thanks to everyone for the great turn out for the first of the 'Interclub' Race Series @ Blackpool. A fantastic turn out for all clubs involved in a 'Fast & Furious' paced race. It was also points gained for the Road/Trail GP. I will be doing a race report once the results are published.

I am getting an increasing amount of enquiries now with regards to Triathlon specific training, especially swim sessions.
To my knowledge we don't have any recognised club sessions running just now.
Can anyone verify this or let me know otherwise?
Is anyone prepared to help be part of organising one?

our of our triathletes competed in the first sprint triathlon of the season at Ulverston on Sunday. As usual the Epic Events race drew in a lot of the North Wests greatest talent including a couple of professionals!! First home for the club in a time of 1:16:43 and in an excellent 13th position was Jonathon Mann. This was something of a breakthrough performance for Manny but one which all of our triathletes training group new he had in him, a big well done mate all the group are proud of you!! Second home in a time of 1:18:43 and in 20th position was Joe Duckworth. Joe was closely followed by Adam Critchley in a time of 1:18:47 and 21st position. Now to be outdone by the lads Karen Hancock finished in a time of 1:43:08 in 144th positon and 4th female, well done Karen. Next stop on the Epic Event tour is Clitheroe Triathlon on the 19th April. Joe said he's staying out of Mannys way and doing a long ride instead. Well done all JD

Stuart's training sessions are aimed at speed and endurance, but vary every week. They are similar to Monday nights, but tend to be time rather than distance based.

Same as previous years it is for primary school years 3, 4, 5 and 6
Track and field events
You have to enter at least one of the first three meetings to qualify for the medal meet.
Over 20 chorley juniors entered this event last year.

If anyone is interested in learning the very basics of cycle maintenance please email me, ainsleymurphy@me.com.
I've only had a couple of emails from people interested and you may have mentioned your interest in passing but emailing me allows me to put a tangible list together.
Without the demand there'll be no supply so please do let me know if you are interested.
I'd be looking at using the Cricket Club on an evening or weekend that suited most assuming it's available. I'm also happy to cover anything else you want to learn, just let me know.

Horwich Festival Sprint Triathlon 21st June.
We have been invited to put a team of 5 together for this event (3 men & 2 women).
It's the first time a triathlon has been included in the Horwich festival of Racing and it would be great for us to support it by getting a team in.
It's only a sprint distance (400m swim, 8Mile bike & 3 mile run) The bike and run are laps around the town so really pretty flat and fun.
Team Dean, Bolton Tri, Tri-Rivington & Lostock will all have teams in so let's represent!

The first Interclub race is on Wed at 19:00, 4 miles around Stanley Park. Nearest parking is at Cricket Club FY3 9EQ. Start is about 1 mins walk from Cricket Club. No registration necessary, just wear club vest. Food and presentation (Chorley have won stuff) afterwards. All runners welcome and ,will contribute to team results.

The annual Easter trip to Horwich for the Rivington Pike Fell Race proved very rewarding this year with the club taking the first Veteran male team trophy led home by Julian Goudge in devastating form to finish 12th overall and 3rd vet 40.
The English Fell Champion, Wheelton based Rob Hope clocked 17.40 with the ever improving Julian timing at 20:03!
Team counters-all with sensational runs were Julian, Dominic Raby (18th overall) and Darren Fishwick (22nd overall).
Making it a family affair, Nicola Raby secured 4th LV40 slot in an excellent 27:46.
Other finishers included: Martin Quinn V40 24:20,Bill Becket V45 24:52, Stephen Baker V55 27:30, John Swift V75 33:13, Christine Sweatman LV55 33:55, Les Paul V65 37:10 and R Senior V70 38:40.
The club's Promotions Officer Terry Dickenson said " This was one of the finest team performances on one of the hardest short course Fell Races in England. The club is delighted to recognise the outstanding achievements of the Chorley athletes, well done to all concerned!".

Well done to the veteran men's team at Rivington Pike Race (Julian Goudge, Dominic Raby & Darren Fishwick) for winning the Vets team prize - First time in 12 years that Horwich have not won this trophy! Good to get anopther name on the trophy. I will be putting it in the Cricket Club on Thursday of anyone wants to come for a run or a pint afterwards to celebrate - 7.30 for the run or 8.30 onwards for the drink!

The Council have managed to arrange a small junior cycle event to tie in with next Saturday's Chorley Grand Prix. Places are limited to 12 in each age group, to do a sprint race along Park Road, finishing at the elite finish line. The events will be run after the start, first lap & second lap of the elite race. Well done to the Chorley runners who competed in the 'Trimpell 20' Road Race today. This was a pre marathon run for all with warmer than expected conditions.
Out of a massive 530 runners - Rob Walsh came in at a time of 2:13:18 (31st), followed by Dan Edwards 2:33:15 (126th) closely followed by Mark Bond 2:33:53 (132nd).

Five Chorley juniors made the trip to Blackpool today,for the 1st Track and Field event of the season. For some it was their 1st time competing in Track and Field. U9 Alayama Ahmed achieved 1st place in the 80m, with a fantastic run, with Martha Singleton not far behind. Martha also achieved 2nd place in the 600m. Sam Challinor and Alice Singleton started their season with excellent performances for the U11's. U17 Holly Brookes achieved a PB in the Shot putt with a throw of 8.16m.

Joe Duckworth competed at the Gin Pit Double marathons this weekend, finishing third overall and second in the 2 day event on day 1 in a time of 3:03:24 and second overall on day 2 in a time of 3:10 :13. This placed Joe second overall in the two day event for the second year in succession in a combined time of 6:13:37.

A gorgeous Spring day greeted 4 Chorley runners who decided to sample the delights of a 7 mile road race around Garstang in aid of Royal Manchester Children's Hospital. In form Mick McGeown was first back in 20th position and a time of 49:12. Laura Murphy was 4th female and 30th overall, with Simon Townsend not too far behind in 44th place and a time of 55:16. Vet70 Mike Coppin finished well in 121st. A very nice run for a worthy cause.

Steve and Mark, the Junior bike coaches, are planning a family bike ride on Tuesday 31st March around the Glasson Dock, Lancaster area. The ride will be approx 20miles and is open to all club Juniors and their families. In order for plans to be made, it would be great to have an idea of numbers asap to see if this is feasible.
