Message from Richard Farron and Mike MAson about Thursday night training- the training session is on but you need to meet outside. Do not go into Parklands because there is a school production going on. You need to bring your high -viz jacket - there will be spares if needed. Thanks.

Sunday 15th March was the Firefighter 2up Duathlon at Rivington. First Chorley team back was Adam Critchley and Julian Goudge, in 13th position and 2nd V40, they had an excellent race with a strong run at each end of it. Not far behind was Ainsley Murphy and Jonathon Mann, 26th position and 6th V40, with a mechanical issue wasting precious time. Michael Hancock also competed but not under the Chorley team name and finished in a very respectable 36th position. Joe Duckworth was the fastest Chorley finisher representing the fire service and retained his title of the fastest fireman for (at least) the 2nd year running, finishing in 5th position overall.

Chorley's International Paralympian and world record holder, Graeme Ballard took time out to compete in Dubai in The Fazza and Sharjah Games and performed brilliantly to gain 2 Gold and 2 silver medals, 1 of each from each game.
In the Fazza Games 100m the world record holder took the Silver in 12.43 and the 200m Gold in 25.60, and, in The Sharjah Games claimed the 100m in 11.99 and Gold then taking the 200m Silver in 25.47.
Club Chair, Daryl Peter said " Graeme is such an outstanding athlete and fully deserves his successes in Dubai."

Hello everyone, for those of you that don't know I have been running for Chorley for about 7 years and I am now the president of the Athletics club at Lancaster University. We are hosting a track and field competition at Uclan sports centre on the Sunday 15th March. We know this is Mothers day but it was the only date we could host it but I'm messaging to ask if there is anyone, qualified or not, who could help out officiating on the field or the track (lunch will be provided)?
If you are interested could you please give me a call on 07999808149
Thanks :)

Saturday 7th March is the final Cross Country meeting of the season, at a new venue - Rylands Park in Lancaste,r in the Mid Lancs League. It would be great to sign off the season in style with a big turn out. The weather is forecast to be (relatively) warm so it would be the ideal time for anyone to sample a cross country meeting for the first time. There are still Chorley teams fighting for promotion so every runner appearing could have an important bearing in the final calculations. Hopefully I'll see as many of you there as possible!! Also don't forget it is the Roddlesworth Roller (Doddle now full I believe)the following day on Sunday 8th of March. This is a fantastic race which I'd highly recommend. It is also organised in conjunction with our club and I'm sure any assistance on the day would be greatly appreciated.

With many of our runners competing at various locations & events it was a good effort to have 12 in Sundays Trotters(5) Club road GP & Central Lancs GP trail race in Bolton. In windy conditions but with the rain holding off this two lap race had a devilish finish which did not phase Julian Goudge(13th) followed by Phil Iddon(50th) and Ainsley Murphy(63rd). Bill Beckett(90th) kept ahead of Andrew Clough(95th) with Michael Hendry(116th), Laura Murphy(118th), a hobbling Ruth Whipp(140th) & Stephen Baker(146th) all pressing. Helen Harper(230th) had a good race ahead of Steven Wilde(303rd) & Mike Coppin(339th). The Chorley ladies however picked up the prizes with Laura(1st L35) & Ruth(1st JL) with near misses for Julian(3rd V40) & Mike(4th V70).

In the final placings for this league Daniel Lilley was 6th U11, Jonathan Burgess(13th V40), Dave Kershaw(5th V55), Phil McCullagh(14th V55) & Mike Coppin(2nd V70).

Anyone free Sat 28th to do a Triathlon England Officials course? https://regonline.activeeurope.com/builder/site/?eventid=1592269 The club could do with 1 or 2 trained to help with Junior Duathlon & any other events we may plan in the future. I've just completed the TE Events management course & can't praise the trainers enough. Apply direct as limited places left.

GP DOUBLE HEADER!!
As I’m sure you know, the Lostock 6 is this coming weekend, but did you realise it’s a counter for two of our Grand Prix??
Yes that’s right.
Both the Road/Trail & Triathlon GP’s are using this event as a counter.
Hopefully this will provide a rare opportunity for more of us to come together.
See you Sunday.

The first of our 2015 club organised events is fast approaching on Sunday 8th March 2015. This consists of a 9km trail run for seniors and a 2.2km trail run for juniors, through the Roddlesworth Plantation near Abbey Village.
If you are a junior (16 or under) and would like to run in the Daffodil Doddle race, please pre-enter as the race is already 2/3rds full, and is normally completely full by race day. If you are a senior you can enter before or on the day of the event.
If you do not want to or are unable to run, please volunteer and help the club run the event successfully. As a volunteer, the maximum time required would be from 10:30 to about 13:00 on the day, but if you could help for part one of the races that would also be very useful. As a volunteer, you could be a marshal, time keeper, photographer, medal dispenser, results runner, etc.
If you are able to help, and have not already kindly offered, please contact myself at sp_townsend@hotmail.com, in person (at training) or via the web site as soon as possible.
As an added incentive, there is free food and drink for all runners and helpers, plus medals for the Doddle racers.
Thank you in anticipation for supporting this popular event,
Simon Townsend
