Congratulations to the Juniors that competed at Witton Park Cross Country in awful wet and cold conditions. Isabelle Farron led the way home for the girls with a impressive 7th finish, followed by Emily Warren 10th, Lauren Prince 17th & Lucy Goldthorpe 21st - Finishing 3rd, only 2 points off 2nd place. Good finishing also for Alice Singleton, Erin Boardman and Layla Allton. The boys were led home by Daniel Lilly with another impressive 7th finish, followed by Joe Bowles 21st, Jack Hughes 22nd and Owen kellett 24th. Finishing fourth overall after a mistake on the provisional results. Good finishing also for Oliver Platt and Joseph Chadwick.
Oliver Gouldthorpe ran a good race too and was the only under 13 to compete, finishing 19th.
You were all fantastic with improvements throughout both boys and girls teams. Well done and very proud of you all.

A dark, dank day saw Warren Crook finish first for the club (36th, 50:25) followed by Dan Edwards marking his return with a decent run (49th, 52:22) and supported by Lee Childs completing the trio (92, 56:42).

Christmas puddings all round for the three Chorley completers of the Longridge 7 mile road race on Sunday. A fairly dank day saw Warren Crook first back for Chorley (36th, 50:25) followed by Dan Edwards marking his return to the club with a decent run (49, 52:22) and supported by Lee Childs completing the trio (92, 56:42). The previous week saw two Chorley runners head out to Garstang for Guys 10 miler: captain Martin Quinn led the way in 47th overall (1:06:13), followed by Steven Wilde 1:28:55.

The undulating Simister 10K course provided the perfect backdrop to the Dick Maxwell Handicap Challenge Trophy where the club's consistent race walker Phil McCullagh added to his burgeoning reputation by taking another 1st place (66:52) and claiming a personal best in the process. His coach, John Payn tracked him all the way to the half way point but couldn't keep pace with his protégé. Chorley based and former member Claire Goulden also produced a PB to clock 70:46.

Just a reminder that this Thursday 18th December is the annual Christmas lights orienteering event from the Cricket Club. This is a just for fun event in teams of however many you want - Don't worry if you don't have a team as these will be made up on the night with whoever turns up. The run/walk time is 45 minutes and you cover the distance that you cover depending on the route you choose. - Head torches are helpful for looking at the map and clues. There will be a handicap for walkers if you also want to join in,
There is also the option of pizza after the run - £ 5.00 - £4 of which will go towards pizza and £1.00 will be a donation to the defibrillator at the cricket club. There are shower facilities available at the club for after your run.
The first team will be sent off at 7.30 and then teams will go out at 2 minute intervals (to stop you following each other!)
This will be the last Thursday night run of the year so it would be great to see as many people as possible. If you are unable to come down can I take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy Christmas and a peaceful new year.

Much travelled International Race Walker and Club Coach John Payn yet gain
claimed gold at the British Masters Race Walking Championships' this time
held at Hillingdon near London.
John easily took the over 80's title with a storming race walk completing
the 20K undulating cycleway course in 2hrs 44 mins to claim the gold medal.

What a brilliant event the Sefton Park XC was. It did strike me though how much Stan does with very little assistance. It feels like the right thing to do for those of us that benefit from his commitment to at least offer to share some of the work. I know that this weekend in particular he couldn't get the tent to the venue. So, how about between us we offer to help by taking turns at least with the tent set up and dismantle. Laura suggested that we and /or any other parents with children racing could collect the tent and set it up and then perhaps one of the senior men (last to race) take it down and drop it off?? As I say it just seems like the right thing to do for us to at least offer.
If not before then see you all Friday :-)

Many thanks to Steve and Mark for organising today's family cycle ride round the Guild Wheel which will hopefully be the first of many more outings. Brilliant weather and a great day..... 33 cyclists (from age 5 to age x!), 21 miles, 3 punctures and icecreams at the end!

Handicap race walk a spin as a training event and finished the "undulating"
course in 35 mins 30 secs. Former club member and now coached by John, Clare
Goulden produced an excellent finish to claim 4th spot in 34:15
