Various Chorley senior runners were out and about on Sunday morning, 14 September.
Phil Iddon led the trio of athletes who chose to support the Central Lancs Grand Prix trail race at Blackleach Country Park in Worsley, completing the 5 mile course in 31st position (32:03). Philip McCullagh (43:11) and Mike Coppin (66:17) supported to bring Chorley some much needed team points. Meanwhile, Rob Walsh galloped around the Garstang half-marathon, finishing in 12th (4th V40, 1:25:30), and with Martin Quinn following just a few minutes behind (33rd, 1:32:21).
The final two CLGP fixtures are the Swinton 10 mile road race on 28 September (9.30 start, details below) and then the Gin Pit 5 mile trail race at Astley on 12 October. Good Chorley turnouts would boost the final team standings in this year’s competition.

Does anyone know someone who can do a electric PAT test on the TE Finish Arch on Thursday night/Friday prior to the Duathlon on Saturday? ANY contacts gratefully received! (We have the budget to pay for it!). Thanks.

Hi Ainsley, many thanks for message, I will aim to get there tomorrow night, perhaps I could keep an eye out for you? I cycle with Chorley CC and have done a few open & indoor water Tri's. I am a distance runner really but think I could benefit from from speed/endurance stuff. Don't want to hold proceedings up though! I used to be a Harriers member years ago - things look like they have changed since! Hopefully see you tomorrow

Well done to 3 juniors who competed really well in today's Chester Triathlon. Jack Hughes won his first triathlon, a minute ahead of others in his T1 category. Charlotte Lavin competed in her first T2 event, and was pleased to finish in an excellent 10th place. Jacob Hughes' consistent season continued with a 7th place finish.
Next weekend is busy with the Chorley Duathlon Saturday, and the final Triathlon in NW Junior series on Sunday at Blackpool, which is also the Junior Club Championship. Entries to these events close tonight.

Would anyone be interested in getting a regular brick/duathlon training session going?
Or if I did would anyone be interested in joining me?
I'm no coach so it would be an informal thing rather than a club endorsed coached session.
I'm thinking quite short stuff really that is manageable on top of an already busy life.
5k run (1 loop)
1hr bike (1 or 2 loops)
5k or 10k run (1 or 2 loops)
I'm thinking early morning weekend or evening (lights required) during the week. I'm in Adlington and could host a small group but would be happy to meet anywhere the bikes would be safe while we run.
Anyone interested drop me an email: ainsleymurphy@me.com or m:07912466202
I'd be happy for anyone on Facebook to copy and paste this message.

Hi Nicola,
The Monday session at Holy Cross is training for endurance running as opposed to an actual endurance run. I believe tomorrows session is scheduled to be a kind of pyramid session.
400m, 600m, 800m, 600m, 400m (Repeat, with about 90sec recovery).
They are great sessions for all abilities and are as hard as you choose to make them.
Tomorrow will probably be one of the last sessions on the grass track before we lose light and move onto the hill just outside the school grounds.
Hope this helps.

Kit is held by one of the parents, and is stored at her shop. Ruth is currently on honeymoon, but can be contacted on ruth@cakesbyruth.co.uk for you to request what you're after & book a time to collect at mutually convenient time. She's back next week. If juniors want to borrow kit for events in next few weeks, ask at your session as there may be someone with some spare kit you can borrow. Hope that helps.

Sunday 14 September (10:00 start) sees the 9th fixture in this year's Central Lancs road and trail Grand-Prix, to be held at Blackleach Country Park in Walkden. This is a 5 mile trail race around the park, and is a new addition to the CLGP competition and hosted by Manchester YMCA.
Phil Iddon will coordinate car-sharing again. Car-sharers please meet at Chorley Flat Iron carpark at 8.15.
Good news! Chorley moved above Radcliffe following the previous fiture at Leigh, so every place really does count. Please note there is a direct clash with the club's navigation skills course which is also on Sunday.

Do we know yet how people will enter cross country events this year? I can't see anything on the site (may have missed it), and want to update the groups I support. Last year there was an early closing for one of them I think. Thanks.

Jonathan Mattock dipped under the 90 minute mark at the Fleetwood ½ marathon, completing the course in 1:29:18 (44th), and Warren Crook followed shortly behind in 1:35:36. Down the road at Blackpool, Rob Walsh had a splendid 13th place finish at Saturday’s Hilton (10k) race, with Lee Childs following in 46:48. Seven Chorley runners elected to tackle the 5 mile trail race around Pennington Flash Country Park. Ainsley Murphy was first home for the club (29, 31:36) with Phil Iddon close behind (35, 32:04). Tash Fellowes (14th lady, 37:02) – with a welcome switch to the ‘flat’ – was the first lady back for Chorley. Others in the team included Michael Hendry (36:38), Lara Dickinson (40:38), Christine Sweatman (43:06) and Les Paul (48:02). A good morning’s work - we were a little light on CLGP numbers (7 runners versus 10+), but the ladies’ team (Tash, Lara and Christine) came 6th, the men’s 7th, Christine and Les were first in their categories, and Lara enjoyed a personal best over 5 miles. The next CLGP fixture is the Blackleach 5 mile trail race (Worsley) on 14 September.
Of course, we also have Red-Rose’s interclub fixture this Wednesday - 7pm start at Worden Park.

Well I was very disappointed this morning ! I was the only chorley runner to attend the carlisle park run ;-). I did manage 14th place out of 122, 13th male and 3rd age related place. And met some really nice running folk. Next question do I drive 100 miles to worden park on Wednesday evening? If not; good luck to all Chorley runners.

Joe Duckworth travelled to Rasklef in North Yorkshire for a 100 mile Time Trial run by North Yorkshire Cycling Federation. The weather was breezy to say the least with 70 miles of cross winds on the A19. Despite the 70 miles of cross winds this turned out to be the perfect preparation for Kona. Joe finished 11th overall in a time of 4:15:45 averaging a speed of 23.8mph.
