I am hoping that this will continue at Leigh this Saturday(10th) with another fine turnout in this 1st Red Rose fixture of 2015/16.

Chorley is hosting the first Mid Lancs XC event in Astley Park this Saturday. If you are not running, and able to help please meet Stan/Simon in front of the Pavilion at 11:30am. Stan and a small team will be setting up the course on Friday from 11:30, but any extra help would be much appreciated.

This Thursday is the clubs monthly social pizza night.
Meet at 7.30pm at Chorley cricket club for friendly run followed by pizza in the clubhouse (£5 pp for the pizzas).
Also as many know, nine of the club's ladies are taking part in the race for life marathon and half marathon at Lea Valley a week on Sunday. We are hoping to do the club proud and raise some money for Cancer Research in the process. A sponsor form will be around Thursday if anyone would like to donate towards our team effort.

Well done to the 2 athletes that represented Chorley today at the Blackpool open track and field meet. Alayana Ahmed U9, had excellent runs in the 80m and 600m, gaining a silver medal in the 80m. Holly Brookes U17, threw a new personal best in the Shot Put with 9.20m gaining a silver medal.

It is sad to report the death of Jonathon Higson, a Chorley member, from a recurrent brain tumour. Jonathon collapsed in a race a few years ago from whence his diagnosis came. The Club gave a donation to Rosemere Cancer who have helped Johnathon to get back to some form of good health over the last two years which allowed him to work full time in Sweatshop, but this remission has ended and now taken his life.

Very Sad News. Jonathan Higson passed away on Wednesday, after a long battle with illness. Jonathan was well known within our club, Sweatshop and Cuerden Park Run communities. He always had a smile on his face, and often helped out with our race events.
His funeral is on 9th September at Chorley Crematorium at 3pm.
He will be sadly missed, and our thoughts are with his young family and friends.

Well done to the 4 athletes that competed in the Mid-Lancs Medal Meet on Sunday. Senior, Rick Cordwell got 2 silver medals in the Long Jump and Triple Jump. Senior, Anna Peers got gold medals in the Javelin and Discus and a silver in the Shot Put. U17, Holly Brookes got bronze in the Shot Put and silver in the Discus with a new PB of 23m. U13 Izzy Thompson got a silver in Discus. Also thanks to Caroline Thompson for officiating.

It is with regret that the Committee of Wesham Road Runners have taken the decision to cancel this year’s race which was due to take place on Sunday 20 September due to lack of response.
Also we felt that as there is a busy schedule of races that weekend we would not receive many entries on the day.
Please can you advise your Members and note that we will be in touch with anyone who has pre-entered the race.

We have had to change our interclub route due to works on the main gates to Worden Park. Please be aware that the park is now accessed through the gates opposite Langdale road. Please allow extra time for getting to the event. There is alternative parking on Tesco's car park.
