Congratulations to all the juniors who competed either today or during the sports hall series. Today saw many PB's earned, and thanks to the 30 juniors that took part over the 3 meetings, the u11 girls team came in 4th overall, the u11 boys 3rd and the u13 boys 4th. This is a truly fantastic achievement and is down to all of your hard work, and the commitment and training given by our coaches. I hope to see even more record numbers in the series next November! Junior Triathlon series. To receive an Achievement Certificate you must complete a minimum of 4 Triathlons AND accumulate 8 or more scoring races in the year e.g. 4 Triathlons, 4 Aquathlons or 7 Triathlons and 1 Aquathlon. The Regional Relay is the only race that is not point scoring. Good luck!

We have just been told that Holy Cross School is closed, so there will be no junior training at that school tonight (Monday 19/1/2015). Training at Southlands is unaffected.

Joe Duckworth has just recieved confirmation from British Triathlon that he has been selected to represent Great Britain at the European ETU Long Course Triathlon Championships in the V45 / 49 Catagory at Challenge Weymouth on the 13th September 2015. This will be an Iron distance event (2.4m swim 112 mile bike & 26.2 mile run). He clearly is "made up is an understatement". Put that along side trying to qualify for the World Championships again (Kona) at Ironman Lanzarote in May and the year is looking pretty busy already' or Joe.

Well done to the 4 Chorley Juniors who represented Lancashire in the Regional SportsHall final today. Olivia & Megan Leigh helped the girls team to first place, whilst Joe Bowles & Jack Hughes helped the boys to 1 point off 2nd place. A very competitive day of athletics at SportCity. Our juniors did themsleves proud, with excellent individual results & they all smiled all day :-)

On what was supposed to be a horrendous weekend weather wise only a few Chorley athletes braved the violent hail storms in the SE Lancs XC at Leigh where Daniel Lilley set Chorley off in the first race of the day with a magnificent 4th place in the U11s being within 20 secs of the winner. Then a long barren stretch until the last race where sadly Daniel's only support was from 5 senior athletes with Jonathan Burgess(63rd) and Dave Kershaw(72nd) matching Daniel's 4th place as the 4th V55, then Phil McCullagh(112th) showing a clean pair of heels to Adrian Smith(113th) and Mike Coppin.

We have entered a mens team and a ladies team into the Calderdale way relay.
This is an off road relay of 6 pairs that runs around the Calderdale Way - Lengths for each leg varies. Detail are on the Halifax Harriers website if you want to know more. If you would like to be considered please contact Anna Maria, Martin Quinn or Mark Ellithorn. We will select teams when we have names. We will try to arrange some recce run from March onwards so keep your eyes open for dates
Remember = Relays are team events, the heart of the club and why we slog out the training miles in the dark of winter - Come and enjoy yourselves, you won't be alone!!!!

Notice to all Juniors - It is the second of this years Lancashire Sportshall meetings at Blackpool Stanley Park this Sunday. For those who are attending please be there for 10.30am so I can give all those who have registered their numbers. If you haven't registered with me but still want to give it a try, you can still turn up and register on the day - but aim to be there before 10am. I encourage everyone to give it a go, and join the fun. Some of our Juniors have already been selected to represent Lancashire, and there will be some more places up for grabs on Sunday.
